Our Story

From searcher to investor

Mayborn Capital was founded by Jonathan Dedman Dietz after successfully completing a self-funded search, acquiring, operating, and ultimately exiting a national services company. That journey gave firsthand insight into what it takes to source a deal, secure financing, and step into the CEO seat on Day One.

As an operator and eventual seller, I know what is at stake for business owners. I have navigated succession planning, worked closely with employees through a transition, and felt the responsibility of preserving both a company’s culture and its customer relationships. That perspective shapes how we approach acquisitions today, with respect for legacy, continuity for employees, and growth opportunities for the next chapter.

From that same experience, I also understand the pressures searchers face when raising capital, making their first acquisition, and building credibility as a new leader. This is why Mayborn Capital backs searchers with not only capital but also the perspective of someone who has been there before.
